Fun Facts About Brown Bears
Brown bears, also called grizzlies, are the second largest bear after the polar bear.
Brown bears are not always brown. Some can be cream or black.
They are omnivores which means they will eat pretty much anything from deer and small mammals to berries, nuts and plants. The especially love fish.
Brown bears hibernate in caves for most of the winter. During hibernation, their heartbeats slow to 10 beats per minute.
They live off of their fat in the winter, losing up to 1/3 of their body weight.
Females have their babies during the winter while they are asleep, and they wake up in the spring to meet their cubs!
Brown bears can be aggressive, but they usually leave people alone unless they feel threatened.
